🔬What Is PEG MGF

PEG-MGF (PEGylated Mechano Growth Factor) is a PEGylated variant of Mechano Growth Factor (MGF/IGF-1Ec) – a local splice variant of IGF-1 induced by mechanical loading and muscle damage. PEGylation increases stability and extends the half-life from minutes to hours/days, enabling prolonged action on regenerative processes and satellite cells. MGF (IGF-1Ec) is a muscle-expressed splice variant of IGF-1 that is upregulated during stretching/overloading and muscle injury, participating in the activation and proliferation of satellite (myogenic) cells.

📊Clinical Studies & Results

PEG-MGF is a PEGylated derivative of the Mechano Growth Factor (IGF-1Ec) studied primarily in preclinical and early human observational settings for muscle regeneration and satellite cell activation.

  • In preclinical models/ex vivo, MGF increases proliferation and migration of myoblasts and supports the early phase of regeneration
  • PEG modification extends the half-life from minutes to hours/days, enabling less frequent dosing protocols
  • C-terminal MGF fragments have shown neuroprotective properties in ischemia models
  • No publicly available Phase I RCTs with standard design exist for PEG-MGF specifically
  • Preclinical evidence supports satellite cell activation and muscle regeneration mechanisms

PEG-MGF represents an active area of research in tissue regeneration. While preclinical data are encouraging for satellite cell activation and muscle repair, formal clinical trials (Phase II/III) have not been widely published. The compound remains an important research tool in regenerative biology.

🏆Benefits

  • Supports muscle regeneration by activating satellite cells/myoblasts in the early phase after loading/injury
  • Extended effect and less frequent dosing compared to unmodified MGF due to PEGylation and increased stability
  • Potential neuroprotection (reported for C-terminal MGF fragments in ischemia models)
  • Tissue-specific IGF signaling – MGF is a tissue-specific isoform response of IGF-1; PEG modification aims for prolonged local effect

⚠️Possible Side Effects

  • Localized redness or itching at the injection site
  • Transient soreness or mild pain
  • Headache or mild gastrointestinal discomfort
  • PEG-related reactions are rare but possible (hypersensitivity to PEG)

🎯Ideal For

  • Muscle regeneration and satellite cell research
  • Post-exercise recovery protocols
  • Tissue repair and growth factor signaling studies
  • Neuroprotection research (C-terminal MGF fragments)
  • IGF-1 splice variant mechanism investigations
